It’s one thing to talk about networking and partnerships and it’s a completely different one to actually show up, meet new people, shake hands and discuss the future. Last month we did a lot of the latter! Here is a short recap of the most important events we went to in November:
Translating Europe Forum 2018, Brussels
The 5th edition of the Translating Europe Forum on ‘translation in the age of data’ brought together around 500 professionals from the language industry, academia and the public sector in Brussels on 8-9 November 2018. We met with old and new colleagues and watched industry experts discussing about the impact of AI on society and the language industry, as well as translation data, legal aspects and latest developments in neural machine translation.

20th INFOCOM WORLD CONFERENCE, Athens
Our Managing Director and IT Manager visited the anniversary 20th InfoCom World Conference – “New Horizons: The Techonomy of Gigabit Era!”. With the aim to serve as a staging area for the new age, this year’s Conference highlighted the developments that marked the Greek ICT industry in the last 20 years and the new opportunities arising, with comments by executives who represent the industry’s future in Greece! Our Managing Director and IT Manager introduced OMADA and our services to various exhibitors and attendees.

eCommerce Expo 2018, Athens
The goal of this year’s expanded and renewed eCommerce Expo was to present the latest international trends in e-commerce, highlighting those that will best fit in with Greek reality, reviewing the current best practice scenario in our country, and proposing effective solutions to the existing problems within the wider ecosystem. A lot of food for thought and plenty of opportunities to exchange ideas and collaborate.
Aside from all the fun we had, we also had a great time talking to the guys from Develop Greece. Many thanks to Myrto Papachatzaki, their Marketing & Communication Manager, for our warm and wonderful meeting, full of inspiration and ideas!
Xenia 2018, Athens
Xenia is a premium exhibition that focuses on the technological developments, construction and decoration trends, as well as innovative services for the digital transformation that’s essential to securing the future of the hotel and hospitality industries. The event is a rare opportunity for people doing business in tourism to come together on an equal footing to network, collaborate and share learning around implementing change.
Our Managing Director met up and discussed with various businessmen and professionals on why effective translation matters for the tourism industry and how OMADA’s services can help them in their efforts to attract, retain and please tourists, as tourism now relies heavily on the internet for word of mouth marketing as well as online booking.
SDL Trados Roadshow Athens
During a wonderful event held at the prestigious Electra Palace Hotel, SDL conducted a product training session and explained which technologies and solutions are available to help translation professionals and LSPs make the most of the translation industry growth opportunities. The day’s agenda included conclusions from SDL research conducted throughout 2018, a presentation of the company’s solutions including SDL Trados Studio 2019, SDL GroupShare 2017 and SDL MultiTerm Workflow, and a discussion on the role technology plays in helping localization teams and companies to increase their efficiency, meet expected customer demands and manage the ever-expanding volume of assets and resources. The event was an excellent opportunity to meet the outstanding SDL team, network with other translation professionals and hear the current news and trends driving the industry.
Kudos to the organising team for putting together such a solid event! Thank you again for having us!
New events coming up on December! Stay tuned!
